Adult Partial Hospitalization Program
San Antonio Behavioral Healthcare Hospital’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), is a structured, therapeutic program that assists in transitioning patients from an acute psychiatric setting to a more independent life in the community. The program is designed to increase and maintain the therapeutic gains individuals have made as patients in the hospital. It may also help prevent the need for future hospitalizations. PHP is tailored to meet each individual’s needs and provides direction and tools that each participant can use in their daily lives.
Program Schedule
Monday –Friday: 9am-4pm, lunch is available.
A psychiatrist will meet with each participant at least once a week, or more often if necessary, to provide medication management, assess health issues, and review progress of the treatment plan. Masters' level therapists and an RN/LVN will lead six groups each day. The curriculum rotates to ensure all participants benefit from a broad range of therapeutic topics.

Decrease emotional numbing and avoidance, increase helpful coping, reduce feelings of edginess
Decrease depression, guilt, shame, and anger, improve day-to-day living

Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program
The Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a day treatment program that serves adolescents, ages 9-17 years old, and is ideal for teens who have recently been hospitalized or those who require structured treatment and psychiatric support.
This daily, therapeutic program helps teens who are suffering from behavioral and/ or substance abuse problems impacting their ability to function at home and or at school. The multi-displinary treatment team develops individualized treatment plans which address ,coping and living skills, self-esteem and boundary issues, family dynamics and abusive behaviors.
Program Specifics
- Monday –Friday: Summer Hours: 8:30am-1:30pm, lunch is available.
- Typical program duration 4 weeks.
- Weekly meetings with a psychiatrist and family sessions.
- Six therapeutic (CBT and CPT focused) groups each day to include:
- Trauma Focused Education
- Substance Abuse Education
- Nutrition Education
- Family Education
- Mindfulness and Recreational Therapy
- Wellness Planning
- Patients may qualify to participate in on-site school.
